UN Day and Halloween!

Our week started off with UN day! We had a challenge to find Swedish coins that we won't be able to use after June 2017. Our class collected coins and weighed them. 209 Kr weighed 1.4 Kg. We collected the most in grades F-3! The whole collected coins that weighed 15.8 kg. We donated all the coins to UNICEF.

Our Halloween celebration was fun. We still  had a regular school day but everything had a Halloween theme. 6B had a spooky tunnel with stories. There were 3 different scary levels.

Have a safe and healthy holiday!! Thank you for reading!

Peace and our five senses

We had a great time dancing with Hillary and Emma in gym. We danced to a Lil Babs song. We tried to dance  to it in the classroom however, the classroom below us had a hard time  writing while they felt and heard our jumps.

In preparation for UN day on the 24th October we wrote Peace poems using our five senses.

Peace smells like fresh air and my grandma's mince pie.
Peace looks like wet grass and fluffy clouds.
Peace feels like something soft and raindrops that fall on your hand.
Peace tastes like  hamburgers and toast.
Peace sounds like raindrops falling on the ground and wind that blows in your ears.

Peace smells like Pad Thai.
Peace looks like the woods
Peace feels like the wind and the water in the sea.
Peace tastes like Pad Thai.
Peace sounds like a quiet room.

Next week the school will have a visitor from UNICEF. If you have any coins to donate please send them in before Thursday.

Hur tung blir varje klass bidrag? Ingen ska ta med sig mer än max 10kr.
Självklart är det en frivillig insats.

Med vänlig hälsning
Johannes skola

Cold season is around the corner!

Watch out for sniffles and headaches! We are approaching the season for them.

Naiyya came to teach in our class when Hillary and Katarina were ill. We learned about drawing portraits and made portraits of each other.

We also learned about the moons.

On Friday, we talked about symmetry and different feelings. We made different feelings on paper pumpkins.

Thank you for reading this week!

Week 40 Lucky with the sun!

We got luck that the sun was out when we needed it! In the morning at 8:20, there was very little sunny spots on the playground. When we went out at 10:40 our shadows were straight in front of us!

We traced around a student at 10:40 and 12:40
We looked again at 13:40 and it moved some more.

Cinnamon bun day was on Tuesday! We ate one at the end of the day.

When we were in grade 1, we learned about different religions. This year we will continue to learn about different holidays that happen in different religions and areas of the world. Monday was the Jewish and Muslim new year.

Thank you for reading!

Week 39 Solar System

This week we started out project about the Solar System. We watched Bill Nye, The Science Guy. Here's the link of the episode we saw.

We also continued our work with the time, sometimes it was tricky to tell the time on the half hour in Swedish and English. We also did quarter to and quarter past.

This week we also got our new homework. In the red notebook, we are going to write the first sentence we read. In the orange notebook, we can choose different tasks from a calendar. You can read more about the homework on the Homework page.
